What Domain Authority measures

Third-party authority scores estimate how a domain may compare with others using each provider's link and modelling data. The number is useful only within the context and limits of that provider.

What Google evaluates

Search performance depends on relevance, quality, technical access, links, user context and many other systems. Google does not use a third-party Domain Authority score as a direct ranking signal.

Use the metric comparatively

Look at direction, peer groups and the underlying links rather than chasing a target number. A rising score without qualified visibility or business outcomes can still represent poor investment.

Prioritise useful signals

Improve crawlability, content, internal linking, reputation and relevant authority. Measure rankings, qualified traffic, conversions and assisted outcomes alongside any third-party score.
